Gullfaks B Water Injection Upgrade Project
Grenland Group was awarded a contract for modification of the water injection plant on the Gullfaks B platform in June 2010.
The water injection plant is pumping sea water into the oil reservoir, for maintenance of the well pressure and production capacity.
Gullfaks B is a fixed ConDeep Drilling and Production platform put into service in 1985. Gullfaks B is the central unit on the Gullfaks Field and delivers oil and gas to Gullfaks A and Gullfaks C, for further delivery of oil to shuttle tankers and gas through pipeline to the plant at Kårstø.
Grenland Group is now executing the Gullfaks B Water Injection Upgrade Project with Statoil as client. The project is an EPCIc contract for modification of the sea water injection system for increasing the oil production.
After a successful award in June 2010, Grenland Group started a full mobilization of personnel throughout the summer, and the project will continue until the end of 2012. The contract value is approximately NOK 0.5 billion, and there are about 200 people from Grenland Group both onshore and offshore presently engaged in the project.
Despite of challenges occurring throughout the first period of the project, Grenland Group has shown a willingness and a successful performance of the work, where companies internally are covering all activities, including engineering, prefabrication, installation offshore and commissioning, as well as final delivery on board the Gullfaks B.
