HHI Drillship Project
Engineering services contract for topside DDS for Transocean (Houston, USA) at HHI.
Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) was in September 2007 awarded a contract with Transocean (TOI) for a deepwater drilling vessel.
The GG contract covered detail engineering of the drilling topside for the deepwater drillship.
The drilling vessel was scheduled to be ready for delivery ex yard September 2010.
The new vessel is an enhanced version of TOI's CR Luigs and Jack Ryan drilling vessel, which entered service in 2000. Like those drilling vessels, the new vessel is capable of drilling in water depths up to 10,000 feet and is upgradeable to 12,000 feet. The vessel has dual conventional rig system and mud process systems supplied by National Oilwell Varco (NOV).
The HHI delivery included Design, Fabrication, Installation and Commission of the drilling vessel.
